Recently, Infinix introduced the Note 40 Pro, and many have been itching to find out how it squares with its predecessor, the Note 30 Pro. In this review, we look at what exactly sets these two models apart and what similarities they both share.
Price Comparison
The Infinix Note 30 Pro is priced at 24,000 Kenyan Shillings, while the Note 40 Pro comes in at 36,000 Kenyan Shillings. The significant price difference raises the question: is the Note 40 Pro worth the extra investment? Let’s explore.
Design and Build Quality
With the textured finish on it, the Note 40 Pro feels more premium, and even its phone case carries that finish nicely. For the Note 30 Pro, there’s a clear phone case that has a very minimalistic design. Another difference is that the Note 40 Pro is thinner and lighter; it features a curved display compared to the flat display of the Note 30 Pro.
Whereas both of them carry a refresh rate of 120Hz, the Note 40 Pro has much higher resolution and also contains toughened glass in the form of Corning Gorilla Glass.
Performance and Storage
Under the hood, both the Note 30 Pro and Note 40 Pro are powered by a Helio G99 processor. They also feature the same RAM and storage specification: 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage for seamless performance and enough space for apps, photos, and other data.
Battery and Charging
Other ways in which the Note 40 Pro edges out its predecessor include the charging speed: it supports 70W fast charging compared to the 68W on the Note 30 Pro. Wireless charging is supported by both models, but the charger on the Note 40 Pro attaches magnetically, which makes things quite a bit more convenient at least when using a power bank. The Note 40 Pro also supports faster wireless charging at 20W, up from 15W on the Note 30 Pro. Both phones are capable of reverse wireless charging with other devices for added versatility.
Fingerprint Sensor
Location-wise, it is also different: the fingerprint sensor sits in the screen of the Note 40 Pro to allow more modern and seamless unlocking, while on the Note 30 Pro, it is positioned on the power key and thus easier to reach but less integrated.
Camera Capabilities
Both sport similar camera specs: 108MP rear cameras capable of shooting videos up to 2K resolution, and 32MP front cameras. But it is here that the Note 40 Pro stands out, due to OIS that does much for it to produce steadier videos, particularly when there’s movement. While photos from both phones are great, post-processing on the Note 40 Pro is noticeably better and shows sharper and more vibrant images.

Software
Out of the box, the Infinix Note 40 Pro will boot with Android 14, while the Note 30 Pro comes loaded with Android 13. And of course, this will place the former at an advantage as far as the latest features and security updates go.
The Infinix Note 40 Pro comes with a lot of upgrades over the Note 30 Pro in terms of design refinement, better display durability, improved charging features, and better camera stabilization. These put together with the latest OS of Android will justify the higher price tag for people who would appreciate those particular improvements.
Ultimately, your choice between the Infinix Note 30 Pro and Note 40 Pro comes to your budget and what features mean most to you. Note 40 Pro is for you if you want a more premium design and charge it faster. But if you are on a tighter budget and still want similar core performance, the Note 30 Pro surprisingly holds its own pretty well.
