The Realme C61 is arguably one of the cheapest phones you can buy, with a selling price of a mere KES 16,000. One week into using it, here’s what I have to say about this device.
The Realme C61 is sleek in dark green and light in the hand, carrying with it quite a number of notable features that normally set it apart in the price category. Let’s dive in for its key highRVs, from software highlights down to camera performance.
Probably the most killing software feature for this is AI Noise Reduction, working smoothly to minimize any annoying background noise during your calls. Ensures crystal-clear conversations even in noisy environments.
AI Boost allows you to optimize CPU performance for certain tasks, such as gaming. In the case of playing PUBG on the C61, I found this feature enhances game performance by devoting more resources to the game itself-something that provides a glitch-free, non-heating experience even on “smooth” settings.
Realme UI: A User-Friendly Interface
The Realme UI brings a few neat software enhancements to the table, which can make your day-to-day interactions with the phone more enjoyable.
Mini Capsule for Music Control
One fun feature is the Mini Capsule, which appears when you play music. It allows quick controls, like swiping right or left to skip songs, making it easy to manage your playlist without unlocking the phone.
Performance and Battery Life: Reliable and Efficient
Specifications Overview
At its price, the Realme C61 is decently spec’d. This is not an absolute high-end performer, but generally speaking, it’s quite up to most users’ daily tasks, web browsing, and multimedia consumption. As I said earlier, it does pretty decently in gaming, especially with AI Boost turned on.
Battery Life
Another very strong point of the Realme C61 is its battery life: with normal usage, meaning with a couple of gaming sessions and media consumption, this phone will last you for an entire day without any problem. You will rarely run out of battery during a normal day’s usage, which is excellent for a budget phone.
Camera Performance: Decent for the Price
Realme C61 does a pretty decent job with the 50 MP primary camera in well-lit conditions, especially if set to 50 MP mode. Dynamic range and HDR work quite well for landscapes or generally outdoor shots.
The 5 MP front camera does a reasonably good job under good lighting conditions. Under low light, the quality will significantly deteriorate to noticeable grain and less sharpness both on photos and videos.
The rear camera in the video records at 1080p 30fps, fairly smooth in well-lit conditions, while the front camera can shoot 720p at 30fps, adequate for basic use in video calls.
Durability: Realme’s Tough Phone Challenge
Realme claims that the C61 is built for durability and is further water-resistant. In fact, they say you can test it by dropping the phone or some water tests, win a new C61 if you share the video tagging them.
For a budget phone at KES 16,000, this is some solid performance one would expect from Realme C61, useful AI features, and pretty long-lasting battery life. Sure, cameras could be improved, particularly in low light conditions, but it is a great option to go for in case one wants an affordable gadget that can still pack some punch.
